Our
Curriculum
The core subjects of reading, writing and maths are firmly
embedded and developed from the moment children join
us in Reception. Throughout the school key skills in each
year group are taught by knowledgeable, enthusiastic
staff. Pupils are given frequent opportunities to apply the
skills they are taught to all areas of their learning.
Our Challenge Curriculum for all the foundation subjects
stimulates and engages the children through a key
question at the start of every topic. This creative approach
makes learning child-led, purposeful and enjoyable. As a
Church of England school we follow the Liverpool Diocese
framework for Religious Education.
Learning outside
the classroom
At St Thomas’ we believe that learning takes many
different forms and in a variety of locations. We are
fully committed to providing a broad range of learning
challenges away from the classroom. Whether it’s den
building on the school field, using natural resources for
art projects, or solving maths problems involving position
and direction, our school environment will stimulate all
learners.
We enrich the children’s experiences through a variety of
visits. These include cultural experiences, exploring the
many landscapes the country has to offer, plus action
packed residential visits.
